Fredi Sonderegger

He is the Associate Principal Trombone and Bass Trombone player with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra since 2002. He also plays euphonium and bass trumpet with the SSO. Born in Switzerland, Fredi holds degrees in art, performance and education from The Juilliard School, the University of Huddersfield, the Trinity College of London, the Lausanne Conservatory, Conservatory of Winterthur and Zurich Conservatory. He has received numerous awards including the Kiefer-Hablitzel Prize, the Friedl Wald Prize, the Cultural Award of Appenzell, the Orpheus Chamber Music Award, the Curt Dieneman Prize and was twice winner of the prestigious Migros Cultural award as recitalist and soloist. He has performed with world-renowned bands and orchestras of which The Lausanne Chamber Orchestra under Maestro Jost Meyer was a highlight. He has extensively toured Europe and USA as a professional classical musician; several of these exceptional performances were recorded in CD albums and for radio and television. Fredi commands an wide vocabulary of extended techniques which find expression in contemporary performances with musicians of many genres. He is involved in theatre productions, and his sound installations have been exhibited in Macau, Singapore and Taiwan. Fredi is also a live and studio jazz musician and can be heard on CDs and television. |
