He is the Associate Principal Horn of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra since 1998. Born in Washington DC in 1974, Jamie began formal musical studies on the horn with Edwin Thayer, former Principal Horn of the National Symphony Orchestra (Washington D.C.). Jamie is Professor of Horn at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and School Of The Arts. An active soloist, Jamie has performed solo with several major orchestras including the Boston Pops and the George Enescu Philharmonic. Distinguished newpapers and journals such as the Washington Post, Boston Herald, Fanfare, and the American Record Guild have called Jamie “a phenomenally gifted brass player”, “a fine musician with complete command of his instrument", and "one of the best in the business. In October 2009, Jamie and Cellist Daniel Gaisford will be premiering a huge new work written by his brother Michael Hersch, currently head of composition of the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore.
