Singapore Brass Explosion! Festival

 

Singapore’s first International Brass Music Festival. 29-31st May 2010.

 

The Singapore Brass Explosion! (SBE) is a festival of brass music aimed at bring together musicians of all levels; from renowned professionals to student brass bands from all over the world to teach, learn, perform and inspire one another to strive for better standards of brass musicianship in a spirit of camaraderie. The SBE also aims to expose members of the public and enthusiasts to all the elements of brass musicianship; its extensive musical repertoire and strong traditions. Organised by the Brass Society (Singapore), this is Singapore’s first ever International Brass Music Festival.

 

There will be a faculty set up which will include local and international celebrity performers, conductors and instructors who will be at the festival to network, educate, engage and perform for the local brass fraternity and members of the public. Professionals include Henry Lowther, André Henry, Ben Jacks, David Bremner the Desford Colliery Band, several members of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and more.

 

There will be an explosion of events spread over three full days from 29-31st May 2010. These include:

  • Gala Concert – held at Victoria Concert Hall
  • Celebrity Recitals
  • Student Brass Soloist Competition – great prizes including S$1,000 for the First Prize
  • Festival Ensembles
  • Jazz Explosion – celebrity performances at pre-eminent jazz bars in Singapore
  • Fringe Ensembles
  • Student Master Classes
  • Professional Clinics
  • Networking parties!
